Quartermaster General report, 1898.

Report regarding the muster of Ohio troops during the Spanish- American War. Includes table of expenditures for Quartermaster stores, subsistence supplies, transportation, fuel, forage, and other items. Each entry lists item, quantity, unit price, and total cost. Some entries also note month of purchase. At end of report is a day-by-day account of expenditures including date of payment, to whom payment was made, cost of shipping, cartage, and cost of transporting men. Report also includes roster of employees of Quartermaster General's office listing name, rank, and job title.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio. The General Assembly authorized the purchase of glass cases to display battle flags in the Statehouse.
